Field Notes from the Experts
Ready to make the most of every juicy melon and creamy avocado? We’ve got you covered! Check out our quick and easy tips for picking peak-season produce and keeping it fresh from store to snack time.
Find the Sweet Spot with Organic Honey Mangos
Gently squeeze for a little give and a sweet, tropical aroma. Store at room temp to ripen, then refrigerate to keep fresh.
Heirloom Navel Oranges Bursting with Juice
Choose ones that feel heavy for their size—that means max juiciness inside! Keep 'em in the fridge to extend freshness, or leave a few out for easy grab-and-go snacks.
Mini Watermelons, Major Summer Vibes
Look for a dull skin (not shiny!) with a creamy yellow spot on the underside—this means it ripened in the sun. Keep whole melons on the counter, but once sliced, stash in the fridge and enjoy chilled.
Vidalia® Onions: The Onion that Plays Nice
These mild beauties are only here for a short time! Choose firm, dry bulbs with papery skin. Store in a cool, dry spot (not the fridge!) away from potatoes for the best shelf life.
Rhubarb's Tangy Flavor Steals the Show
Go for firm, crisp stalks with a deep red color for max flavor. Skip the leaves—they’re not edible! Store stalks in the fridge wrapped in a damp towel inside a plastic bag to keep them crisp until baking time.

More Reasons to Eat with the Seasons
Better Quality & Better Flavor
Because seasonal produce is likely recently picked, it hasn't been sitting on a truck or in a warehouse for an extended period. It also retains its nutritional value and rich flavor since some antioxidants, such as vitamin C and folate, rapidly decline when stored.
Supports Local and Regional Growers
When you buy peak-season produce, you're reinvesting in your community. Sprouts Farmers Market is proud to work with local and regional farmers across the country to bring you and your family the best-tasting, freshest produce around!
Good for the Planet
Seasonal growing is less harmful for the environment than growing out-of-season crops. In fact, buying seasonal produce can actually help the environment because it reduces water and land use, pollution and loss of soil.
Good for Your Wallet
Out-of-season produce is often trucked in from areas with varying growing climates, making it costly to transport locally. In-season crops allow farmers to harvest more crops and sell at lower prices—which keeps more money in your wallet.

We're Proud to Bring You the Freshest Local Produce Around
Our local farmers play a big role in delivering peak-season picks. That means you’re getting the freshest produce while supporting communities close to home.
