Step 1: Prep Your Apples
Slice each apple into bite-size pieces and skewer. Blot any moisture off with a paper towel or cloth. This will help the caramel stick to the apple slices.Step 2: Make a Rolling Station
Caramel sets quickly, so you’ll want to have everything ready and laid out in advance. For easy cleanup, set up your apple decorating station with lined muffin tins filled with each ingredient. You’ll also need a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, so you have a place to set your finished apple slices.Step 3: Prepare the Caramel
Take a shortcut from time-consuming homemade caramel by using wrapped caramel candies from our Bulk Department. You’ll need about 35-40 caramels, unwrapped, to make a batch of five apples. Place the caramels in a small saucepan with 2 Tbsp of milk or water and heat on medium until melted.Step 4: Dip ‘Em and Decorate
Dip the apple in the caramel and use a knife to spread it over both sides of the apple slice. Sprinkle on your favorite toppings, rotating the skewer to get both sides of the slice. Set completed apple slices on the parchment paper to dry.Tip: For an extra sweet touch, melt your favorite chocolate in the microwave and use a spoon to drizzle a chocolatey swirl atop your cooled, treat-covered apple.
