When you place your order Instacart places a temporary authorization hold for typically 15% higher than your total order at checkout. This authorization hold is placed in case your total is higher due to special requests, added items, replacement items, or weight adjustments. After delivery, the hold will drop off, and your card will be charged for the final total. The final charge will appear within 7 business days after order completion.
An authorization hold can take time to drop off from your card or bank account. Please contact your bank directly regarding their authorization hold practices.

Once your shopper starts shopping, you can message them with the special request. You can also add an order note within your order while you are checking out.

Once you place your order and confirm your replacements, please navigate to the Order Details page. Under the Items dropdown, you will see all the items in your order and an “Add Instructions” option for each where you can write in special instructions per item.
Although we do our best to provide the most up-to-date information in our product catalog, we can’t always guarantee that an item will be in stock. You will be offered the option to replace or refund out of stock items via SMS while your shopper is shopping your order. By default, items added to your cart will be replaced with best-matched products, but you may disable substitutions while checking out.
Updates will be shared via SMS to the mobile phone number associated with your account throughout your order. You can also click “Your Orders” from your Sprouts account to view the status of an order you’ve already placed.
Prior to your order being shopped for, you can add or edit items within the order page by clicking the “Modify Order” button. To access your order, visit “Your Orders” from your Sprouts account. If the shopper has started shopping, you can contact them via SMS to make adjustments. Please note, if you make changes before the shopper has started shopping, your time slot may change.
